La Reserva Forestal Protectora Montes de Oca, ubicada en el extremo norte de la Serran\u00eda del Perij\u00e1, abarca m\u00e1s de 12.000 hect\u00e1reas de bosque seco tropical en los municipios de Este territorio es hogar de bosques secos y matorrales subxerof\u00edticos, protegiendo especies como la guacamaya verde, la tangara y la paloma cardonera. Adem\u00e1s, salvaguarda microcuencas hidrogr\u00e1ficas esenciales para el abastecimiento de agua y la regulaci\u00f3n del caudal del r\u00edo Carraipia .<\/span><\/p>\n La reserva fue declarada mediante el Acuerdo No. 017 de 2007, con el objetivo de conservar los ecosistemas de bosque seco tropical. Posteriormente, el Acuerdo No. 001 de 2010 adopt\u00f3 su plan de manejo. En 2014, el Acuerdo No. 022 ampli\u00f3 su extensi\u00f3n y actualiz\u00f3 el plan para el periodo 2015\u20132020, fortaleciendo las estrategias de conservaci\u00f3n y manejo sostenible .<\/span><\/p>\n La reserva alberga una rica biodiversidad con 255 especies de flora y una fauna diversa que incluye 20 especies de anfibios, 54 de reptiles, 67 de mam\u00edferos y 178 de aves.
